The title may have thrown you off a bit. How could I have possibly never dabbled in Colourpop? Now, it may not be entirely true; I have tried one of their eyeshadows and a liquid lipstick when they first popped up. However, with all their countless exciting releases, I’ve always been so tempted to bite the bullet and order some goodies- and I finally cracked! I’ve been so intrigued by the palettes they’ve been bringing out lately and I just had to go for it.
First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate the cuteness of this note. I meaaaaan….
So I picked up four products altogether. I was supposed to just try out one of the eyeshadow palettes but honestly they were both so gorgeous I couldn’t narrow it down. Then came the thing that actually inspired this whole purchase; the Double Play palette. I’d seen this around and I was just completely obsessed with the colours and the size of the pans; I just had to go for it. Lastly, I felt like I had to try a lip product so I picked up this little set of double sided Lippie-To-Go’s that was on offer.
Now I haven’t tried these out yet but I just wanted to haul them and talk about my expectations before checking back later with an update.
Let’s start with Double Play. Now, I will admit I expected this blush to be more of a bronzer colour, but seeing it in person I think it might be too orange to pull off as a bronzer. So, I’m concerned about that but I will still use it regardless. The highlighter on the other hand actually exceeded expectations. At the price point I wasn’t expecting much, but this was the most gorgeous pigmented and buttery highlighter I have ever swatched (see below)
It just had such a smooth application and blinding level of pigment. So, I’m definitely most excited to try this out!
On to the eyeshadows. Yes, yes, I know the two palettes are almost identical. But honestly I really feel like they complete each other. There are a couple of colours that each one lacks so they work perfectly together. No surprise here, we have a bunch of warm neutrals; this is me, after all.
First is Heavy Hitter, this is more of a neutral mix rather than being exclusively warm. I was so drawn to this because of the shimmer shade that is Ringer and the dark brown Top Notch. I think they’re the most beautiful colours I’ve ever seen in that shade range. I used to be obsessed with the Supershock shadow I had but applying it became such a hassle, it wouldn’t work that well with my brushes and I hated applying with my fingers. So I’m hoping these work.
Next, I got Lo-Key because I was just too drawn to the orange tones to resist honestly. The orange shade I Owe You is juuuust. Honestly, I have zero regrets. The colours are gorgeous, and the swatches did not disappoint.
Here are swatches of Heavy Hitter above and Lo-Key below.
The formula was so beautiful, super buttery and insanely pigmented. I was most impressed by the shimmers, Ringer just applied so intensely and I cannot wait to dip into these!
Lastly, I picked up the Lippies To Go. Now, when these arrived I was super disappointed. You can see from these swatches how beautiful the colours are but honestly they’re so unlike anything I’d try. The description online mentioned the word Mauve a lot but these all seem like bold lips to me. However, the colours are so gorgeous that I am going to push myself and try them out- I’ll get back to you!
That’s what I picked up! Let me know what Colourpop products you love that I should try out 🙂
