As well all know, I’m possibly the first to cave to almost every Kylie Cosmetics release. Mock as I may, I still lust after her products. I’ve mentioned before that I think we can all agree that the Kyshadow palettes are some of the most exciting things to come out of the cosmetics line. Partially because both palettes have had absolutely gorgeous shades, but really what’s most exciting is the anticipation of how well Kylie can pull this off. Eyeshadows are a hard arena to delve into, it’s so easy to get a chalky formula or to not have enough pigmentation; so I think we were all eager to see how these would turn out. After the bronze palette was such a hit, Kylie came out with Burgundy. Now as I’ve said before, I held back with the Bronze because I figured it was almost identical to my Shaanxo palette and basically most of the palettes I own. Burgundy however, was much harder to resist. The shades were just so insanely gorgeous, there wasn’t a single color I wouldn’t get tons of use out of. From the gorgeous bright orange, to that absolutely beautiful center burgundy shade. The shimmers were almost tailor made for me, and the mattes were all my go to daily shades. So, I had to go for it.
The palette was barely out of it’s box before I was applying my eyelid primer and reaching for it. My first impressions were instantly that it was insanely pigmented. The second I dipped my brush in it, I watched it get entirely coated in powder. I tapped the excess off (which I rarely ever do) and with the first tap onto my lid, I was left with a circle of bold color. I’ve raved about this palette countless times on here. It was honestly all I would use for a couple of months. The shade range is just so me- it has everything I could need. I knew this would be an easy week for me, so I thought I’d just give you a review of the palette 🙂
I don’t want to start with a negative, but considering this is the only one I might as well. My only only problem with this palette is that it might just be too pigmented. The insane pigmentation is gorgeous, and especially perfect for the shimmers, but with some of the darker colors it can get a bit OTT and hard to tone down. The bad news ends there.
I really hate to be so in love with a Kylie Jenner creation, but I honestly think this is one of the best eyeshadow formulas I’ve ever used. Aside from being insanely pigmented, these shadows are so buttery they’re almost creamy. They blend out beautifully and just make my lids look so smooth and buttery (if that even makes sense). The shimmers is where the formula really shines through. These four shadows apply so beautifully, they’re almost foiled or metallic. They apply so smoothly onto the lid like a cream shadow would, and the pigmentation is just so gorgeous for a bold glittery lid or a quick brush of glitter. Very versatile. This formula is just so gorgeous, as long as you’re prepared and work with the pigmentation; it is possibly the best formulation out there.
There are a couple of shades in here that aren’t only gorgeous, but I definitely can’t find in any of my other palettes. The shimmers are definitely one of a kind, honestly I’m obsessed with the gold in here and that gorgeous burgundy shimmer- both swatched above. Aside from them, the mattes are the perfect colours to work with- especially that orange and deep burgundy colour. I can’t even begin to explain to you all how gorgeous every look would turn out when using this palette. Obviously all warm neutral looks, but that is my everyday go-to!
Kylie really did amazingly with this one. The formula is just so luxurious, and the shades are so gorgeous and on trend now. I just cannot sing its praises enough! I’m definitely super sad to set this aside for next week’s palette..
P.s. I feel like whenever I’m trying to plan a purchase, every photo of the palette I search looks different. So Im here to tell you that these photos are 100% accurate to how the palette looks in real life- in case you were thinking it looks different to ones you’ve seen before. Let this be your guiding light haha.
