It happened. We all knew it was going to, let’s be real. The second that Jaclyn Hill palette launched I was on the morphe website and probably the first person to add to cart. I’ve spoken about this palette before, and you all know how much it means to me. I’ve had my phases where I’ve been a huge fan of Jaclyn, but as of late she’s been messing up a lot which is really irrelevant to me. To me, it’s all about the palette. Over the past few years I’ve constantly had a dream in mind, putting together my dream palette on a number of single eyeshadow vendors. From MUG to Colourpop to Morphe. It’s something I always plan but never go forward with, well when Jaclyn Hill released the photos of her palette that had been in the works for years, my jaw dropped. There it was. My dream palette. It had every single colour I had planned on getting down to a tee, honestly it was shocking. I had to have it, and luckily I got my hand on it. Now you may think I’m crazy, but yes I did order two of the palette to have a backup. It’s a miracle I didn’t order three! I am not joking when I say it is my dream palette, I couldn’t very well afford to not have backups could I? So the dream was coming true and the order was placed, then it was time to see if the formula would live up to it…
You may have noticed the slight change to my Palette of the Week series? You know, the fact that I referred to this as the palette of a lifetime? Well, that’s because this baby deserves its moment in the spotlight. Let’s start with my first impressions! As many youtubers had mentioned, I can confirm that this palette really is so much more beautiful in person! Every colour is more vibrant and so unique. Often It seemed like there were a lot of identical shades, but there really aren’t. The shade range was beautiful and it really lived up to my imagination. This was definitely my dream palette. When I first received it, I will say I was disappointed in the packaging. Unlike Morphe’s usual packaging this comes in a cardboard palette which is white; which just screams mess! I already have all my fingerprints all over the outside which is a bit annoying. I also don’t particularly like the colour scheme. I know Jaclyn is all about her white and silver but I personally hate the combo.
The negativity really stops there. I had planned to use the palette the next morning, but as I sat starry eyed staring at it, planning what look to create first, I decided to swatch one of the shades because I was curious as to which undertone it had when applied. I. Was. Shook. SHOOKETH. I cannot emphasize enough how much I did not expect that. I’d heard Jaclyn talk repeatedly about how unique the formulas are and how intense they are, but I had never imagined that. I’ll let the swatches below speak for themselves, but I wish I could’ve posted a video here because it’s so necessary for you to understand how lightly I touched each shadow and how insanely creamy and intense they are! This formula is actually an absolute joke and it is not okay that this didn’t cost $200. I was blown away a few weeks ago by the Naked Heat but that and every other palette I have ever owned has absolutely nothing on this. This stuff was more pigmented than a loose pigment! It is absolutely unreal. I went on to swatch every shimmer and my god I almost passed out.
This was too good to be true. How could I have gotten so lucky to find my dream palette and then have the formula come out to be the dream formula. I honestly feel like I can die happy now. I thought, this is too good to be true so surely the mattes would disappoint. Again, enter swatches. Now I was a bit worried that these would be too pigmented, but once it came to applying them on my lid they were a lot easier to work with and gave intense pigment while being easily blendable.
It was an absolute dream to play with this palette. I’ve had it for two weeks now and I have not even touched anything else. I’m not a shimmer person but for the first week I literally wore shimmery shadows every single day. I couldn’t help it! They were so beautiful. I found they applied fine with a synthetic brush, but if I really wanted out of this world intensity I would use my pinky finger to press the shadow on and it would look so beautifully foiled and creamy. Witchcraft. It’s absolute witchcraft!
So, it is safe to say that this palette lived up to my wildest dreams. I can now rest assured that I’ve achieved my dream palette in every sense of the word, and I didn’t even have to create it myself! I can not recommend this enough, and crazy as it may seem, I think I will pick up a third backup during the next restock. I just can’t imagine ever not owning this.
Let me know if you’ve picked this up! And if you haven’t- pay close attention to Morphe’s Instagram, they plan to have a restock in August.
