It’s Not You, It’s Me: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer…

There’s a good chance this post will lose me a few supporters; but my name is Noha and I hate the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. The domino effect this concealer had was almost entertaining to watch, one by one each and every one of my favourite YouTubers and beauty gurus joined the Naked Concealer cult. Before I knew it, it was in every tutorial I watched; haunting me. Ok, who am I kidding, I was DYING to get my hands on it. I’ve never sought after a makeup product as much as this one. Now I’m not a heavy concealer user, as I’ve mentioned before I only really use it to highlight, and lightly so. Nonetheless, this concealer sounded life changing and I’m a firm lover and supporter of all things Urban Decay so naturally I needed it ASAP.

Finally the long-eagerly-awaited moment was here, I finally bought it. The shade seemed (emphasis on seemed) perfect and it swatched beautifully in store. The excitement was real, and I may or may not have dreamt about using it that night. So morning came, and I finally applied it on to my face- the doe-foot applicator was gorgeous as you can see in the photo above; it was so wide and just perfectly shaped to get the perfect product distribution. Then I came in with my damp beauty blender as I always have, and all hell broke loose. With every tap of the blender, product shifted with it. It refused to stay in place and blend out! It was an actual nightmare, just kept moving around leaving it looking separated and patchy. I tried my best to salvage it and then moved on to powder thinking it would settle in place; wrong. Throughout the day I tried helping matters with fix + which always has my back, still nothing. So I was left with patchy dry under eyes and a broken soul.

I would not walk away from this battle lightly, how can everyone I trust and listen to so often be so wrong about a product. So I proceeded to try it every day for a week, same result every day. On one day I had to go as far as to remove it and apply another concealer because it was an important day; that’s how bad it was.

No matter what I tried, I tried applying with a brush, I tried upping my eye cream dosage, I tried a different beauty blender, I tried lighter powders: THERE WAS NO WINNING. Ok, I need to try to not go back to that dark place. I was just so far beyond confused, the more I heard people I followed talking about it the more I tried and the angrier I’d get.

So I’m sorry, I really am sorry to everyone as well as myself because this product is probably now my most hated possession! I don’t know why this had to happen to me (reading back through this I can’t help but roll my eyes at the drama as you probably are haha). But here I am, there’s nothing I can do. This time it really MUST be me, not you Naked Concealer. It just must be.
